Instructor Application

We are currently looking for Instructors to teach our over 60 sections of Introduction to University Life (ASC 101) course for the upcoming Fall semester. Introduction to University Life is a one-credit course that assists new students in making a successful transition to Ï㽶¸£ÀûÖ±²¥ both academically and personally through engaged learning experiences. This course is designed to help new students build relationships, promote engagement in the curricular and co-curricular experience, encourage civility, connect to various resources of the University, and emphasize the expectations of Ï㽶¸£ÀûÖ±²¥. It also aims to help students develop and practice skills in the areas of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and others that can contribute to success in college and beyond. The class meets in-person, one day a week, for 50 minutes, for 15 weeks. Our staff in First Year Experience provide a number of resources, syllabus templates, and other forms of support to set all instructors up for success in teaching this course.

We are looking for candidates who are able to work as team members as well as independently. All instructors must possess at least a master's degree in order to teach a section of ASC 101. Exceptions are made for those in Ï㽶¸£ÀûÖ±²¥'s Adult Learning & Development Master's Program and wish to serve as an intern for the Office of First Year Experience. Prior teaching or training experience is preferred. Instructors must be patient, flexible, creative, efficient communicators and have a positive attitude to teach Introduction to University Life (ASC 101).

Please note: Any part-time, single term instructor candidate who is not already/no longer affiliated with Ï㽶¸£ÀûÖ±²¥ (Ï㽶¸£ÀûÖ±²¥ faculty/staff) and has never taught a course at Ï㽶¸£ÀûÖ±²¥ within the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Success (formerly a part of the Department Undergraduate Studies) must also complete an application through Human Resources. If selected for placement please note there will be mandatory trainings held in August 2024 and on-going professional development throughout the semester.
