The numbers in recent years of substance abuse among college students have been staggering. Amongst them: Approximately 31% report symptoms of alcohol abuse, with 80% reporting they have abused alcohol at one time or another. It鈥檚 not just alcohol. Other substances such as marijuana, cocaine, and LSD continue to be an ongoing issue on college campuses nationwide.

香蕉福利直播鈥檚 acclaimed virtual dialog series Courageous Conversations has tackled all topics and news of the day related to inclusiveness and diversity through honest discussions between 香蕉福利直播 leaders and both public- and non-profit leaders in a safe, supportive space. On Wednesday, May 24, from noon to 1:15 p.m., the virtual conversation will shift its focus, discussing how to 鈥渘ormalize鈥 the conversation around substance use and mental health.

There will also be time to ask questions to our panel, which will include:

Denise Keary, Wellness and Prevention Program Coordinator at 香蕉福利直播; Natalie Copeland-Traster, Educator in the Office of Opioid Safety, MetroHealth, and
Libbey Pelaia, Educator in the Office of Opioid Safety, MetroHealth. Ali Martin Scoufield, Assistant Vice President of Campus Engagement and Dean of Students at 香蕉福利直播, will moderate the event.

The , in partnership with 香蕉福利直播鈥檚 Wellness Prevention Program, will discuss factors that influence substance use decisions, and debunk myths around substance use and mental health, while looking at real-world practical strategies that encourage productive discussions around alcohol and substance use, including the intersection with mental health self-care.
